Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo social and cultural group, has predicted that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will benefit from the “magic wand of Mr. project” in the hands of incoming minister Nyesom Wike.
While praising President Bola Tinubu, Ohanaeze made this remark about the appointment of a southerner to the position of FCT Minister.
It hailed the President’s appointment of a southerner to the role, which has been held by someone from the north since the restoration of democracy in 1999.
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group’s secretary general, said in a statement, “The late Prof. Miriam Odinchezo ikejiani-Clark, an Igbo and the first woman to be appointed as FCT boss by Gen. Sani Abacha, served as FCT Minister from 1995 to 1997.”
The group expressed confidence that Governor Wike would seek to ensure that the growth of the territory was equitable and representative of the needs of all Nigerians.
Isiguzoro claims that “Ohanaeze Ndigbo is indeed happy” that President Tinubu has appointed another southerner, the Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as FCT Minister, 20 years after the last southerner, the late Prof. Miriam Odinchezo Ikejiani-Clark, left office as FCT minister.
Abuja, under Wike, would experience firsthand the good governance that has earned him the moniker “Mr. Projects” in River State. It’s finally safe for people to sleep in Tinubu and the FCT.
