The Honorable Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari will inaugurate the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line in January.
The Minister stated that the official date for the inauguration of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line is yet to be announced.
The Minister stated this in response to complains from officials of APM Terminals in which they disclosed that there are obstacles on the rail track.
In his words Mr Rotimi Amaechi noted that the actual date is yet to be picked: “That date is very important to me because there is no going back on it as Mr. President is aware of it. What has not been fixed is the exact day in January. There is an answer already as to what will be done, what is left the day in January.”
The Nigeria Ports Authority, Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman also assured APM Terminals that the NPA has the backing of the Federal Government to get rid of anything that could obstruct the work being carried out on the project and it’s commissioning in January 2021.
