We do not want Champions League games to match the World Cup with double-digit minutes of stoppage time, UEFA has said. UEFA Chief of Football, Zvonimir Boban recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the recent large addition of stoppage time is absolutely absurd, especially because player welfare has to be taken seriously at this time.
Boban added that every minute played in the UCL is already intense, so there is no need adding a lot more.
His words, “Player welfare is really some kind of small tragedy.”
“They are intense minutes [in the Champions League].”
