In a statement released on Wednesday, Yekini Nabena, the ex-Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), advised President Bola Tinubu to refrain from taking sides in the political upheavals in Rivers and Ondo states.
Nabena emphasized the importance of upholding the constitution in navigating the political landscape of Ondo and Rivers states, urging President Tinubu, as a national father figure, to avoid engaging in partisan politics.
He asserted, “President Bola Tinubu must not play politics with the two states. He must show that he is a democrat and not a dictator.”
Nabena stressed the need for adherence to the nation’s constitution in addressing political developments in both states.
He called on the APC to carefully review its party constitution, highlighting that the National Working Committee lacks the authority to dissolve an elected chairman and executive in Rivers.
“We are democrats and not dictators in APC, so we should be mindful of our actions.
The implications of this action in River State might be dangerous for our party in the near future if the right thing is not done quickly now,” Nabena warned, expressing concerns about potential repercussions similar to those witnessed in 2019 with widespread litigations.
