Influential and experienced communications industry experts join Gigaclear to help drive business expansion to meet demand for Ultrafast broadband in underserved rural communities
Oxfordshire, 17 February 2014… Gigaclear, provider of ultrafast pure fibre broadband to the UK’s rural communities, has appointed an advisory group to help build on the company’s growth and success, bringing world class broadband to more rural communities. The group, and a newly appointed non-executive director, comprise key players in the UK’s communications industry who bring their influence and experience to Gigaclear’s fibre-to-the-premises broadband offering.
Eddie Minshull joins Gigaclear as a non-Executive Director as well as an advisor. Eddie brings considerable telecommunications and business expertise to Gigaclear. Formerly CEO of MLL Telecom, and EVP Worldwide Field Operations at Juniper Networks, Eddie has many years’ experience in executive roles at telecom operators and Internet infrastructure suppliers.
Gigaclear’s advisory group also includes:
Steve Robertson, CEO, Truphone. Prior to joining Truphone, Steve served as CEO of BT Openreach from its inception until 2011 – helping to revolutionise the UK broadband market. Before taking up this post, he served as managing director of BT Wholesale Operations, responsible for the overall performance and operation of BT’s UK mainland network, and managing director of Colt S.A. across Europe.
Richard Feasey, consultant, lecturer and writer on telecoms issues. Richard has 25 years’ experience in policy director roles. This includes 12 years at Vodafone as group policy director where he coordinated global public policy and regulatory affairs throughout Vodafone’s operating companies across Europe. Prior to Vodafone, he was vice president at MCI WorldCom and policy director at Ionica plc and TeleWest plc (now Virgin Media).
“Gigaclear’s success to date demonstrates that the organisation has a proven working business model,” says Steve Robertson, Gigaclear advisor. “The company’s ultrafast fibre to the premises broadband is giving rural communities a reliable, predictable and future proofed communications solution. The Gigaclear model allows entire rural communities including homes, home-workers, businesses and business parks to take control of their own broadband destiny instead of having to wait for solutions that may never materialise.”
“Our role as advisors isn’t just to support Gigaclear as it develops as a company, it’s about helping to develop and improve their business model further so that more communities can benefit from high broadband speeds.”
“We’re seeing growing demand for Gigaclear networks as more communities take broadband matters into their own hands,” adds Matthew Hare, Chief Executive, Gigaclear “As a business, it’s important that we build on this success, delivering future proofed ultrafast broadband to underserved rural communities. Our powerful team of advisers will help us drive the business forward and deliver our ambitious expansion plans.”
