Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has refuted allegations made by the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) that he and his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are responsible for the looting of public assets in the state.
He made this statement in response to the Osun APC’s call for President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to intervene in what they described as an “anarchist hold” by Governor Adeleke and the PDP.
Governor Adeleke, in a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, emphasized that President Tinubu has consistently commended his efforts in cleaning up the mess he inherited in Osun State.
He further stated that President Tinubu is known for his stance against the looting of public assets and would never support such actions.
The governor highlighted that his administration had issued a White Paper on traditional rulers and initiated efforts to recover public assets allegedly taken by political appointees during the previous administration.
He stressed that his government has been committed to due process and has set up an Asset Recovery Committee to facilitate the return of government properties.
Governor Adeleke clarified that despite the challenges faced, he has refrained from involving political adversaries in anti-graft agencies, opting instead for a focus on recovery and governance.
He urged former government appointees to return all government properties in their possession, emphasizing his administration’s determination to recover looted assets.
The governor concluded by reaffirming his commitment to governing the state without partisan bias and ensuring that all looted government properties are recovered.
