Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, to mobilize contractors back to work to complete abandoned projects by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Abia State.
Governor Otti made this appeal during a visit by the minister and his team to inspect road projects being handled by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and NDDC in the state.
Expressing regret over the high number of abandoned NDDC projects in Abia State, Governor Otti highlighted the deplorable state of some NDDC roads in the state that require urgent attention.
Governor Otti emphasized the importance of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and NDDC to the Niger Delta region, appreciating the minister for undertaking the road inspection tour in Abia.
He pointed out that one of the major challenges hindering the completion of NDDC road projects is the issue of long-standing debts owed for jobs already executed.
He urged the minister to address this issue to ensure the completion of the projects.
Governor Otti commended the minister for the inspection visit and assured him of Abia State’s commitment to partnering with him to achieve his goals.
In his remarks, Minister Abubakar Momoh praised Governor Otti for the improved security in Abia State and urged him to continue prioritizing peace in the region for the economic prosperity of the people.
Momoh emphasized that his ministry collaborates with states rather than competing with them for development, stressing the need for a strong relationship between the ministry and states to achieve meaningful results.
