Arsene Wenger has revisited his own suggestion that the Arsenal board could review his role as manager at the end of the season.
During October’s annual general meeting at Arsenal, Wenger had said his passion and hunger for success was greater than ever, but added: “I will sit down every year with my board to see where I go from there.”
However, Wenger has now said that his comments during the AGM were misinterpreted and that he always has a discussion with the board during the summer.
“I said I sit down with the board every end of season and see where we go from there. So that’s not exactly the same [as having a review],” Wenger said. “Sometimes you make a [statement], and people turn it the way they would like to see it.
“That’s what I’ve said — I have a two-year contract, I always try to go to the end of my contract, but always have the honesty to sit down with the board to see where we go from there. So that’s quite simple.”
