The winner of the maiden edition of The Voice Nigeria, Arese Emokpae, has sent her gratitude to Nigerian pop singer, Waje.
According to Emokpae, she received all the right mentoring from the singer, which has helped her to become a success.
Speaking to Punch News, in an interview published on Saturday, August 8, 2016, the new star mentioned that Waje moulded her to possess the right attributes necessary for winning.
She said, “I learnt so much from Waje. I was in her team. She taught me about confidence, stage presence and the technical aspect of singing as a professional musician.”
However, the ‘So Inspired’ isn’t the only person that taught her valuable lessons.
Interacting with her fellow contestants has been quite helpful for the emerging star, who also stated that she did not view them as her rivals.
“It was a very challenging time but it went well. All the contestants tried to get the most out of the show.”
“There were some competitive people in the show and they were all about winning. There were those who wanted to learn all they could on the show.”
“For me, I felt it would be nice to win. But I was working towards gaining as much knowledge as I could.”
“Everybody on the show in their own right was strong but I didn’t see them as rivals. I saw them as people I could learn from just by being around them. I learnt from each and every one of them.”
As her reward, Arese Emokpae, was presented with an SUV valued at N7m by Africa Magic.
She also gets an all expense paid trip to Dubai for her hard work.
