In the last few hours after Hon Oladipupo Adebutu endorsed the candidacy of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) gubernatorial candidate, Hon Adekunle Akinlade, on March 9, 2019, a glut of false reports has begun to flood social media in torrents. The reports, we believe, are sponsored with the aim of causing distraction to the general public who have since embraced Akinlade as the choice and APM as the party to vote for on Saturday, March 9, 2019. The infantile believe to distract is nothing but that of a desperado.
The first report was titled “You’re on Your Own, Ladi’s Father Fires Back on Akinlade’s Endorsement”. The next report ” Support for Akinlade: PDP Stakeholders Disown Ladi Adebutu”. The third report “We will not Follow You to APM, Ogun Youths tell Adebutu”.
Each and all of these stories have been proven to be false in every material detail. To begin with, at no time did the youths and stakeholders dissociate themselves from the alliance. For the record, the youths and elders are the champions of the alliance and they have vowed to mobilise voters across the length and breadth of Ogun State for Akinlade.
Only a raving ignoramus would believe the report that Sir Kensington was against his son’s endorsement of Akinlade. Very infantile. Sir Kensington at no time made such pronouncement but simply a figment of the evil mechanisation of the writers. Ladi’s father is not a politician and he is very supportive of his children. He upholds the sanctity of Ladi’s right to take decisions that best suit him at the material time.
In a message gotten from Sir Adebutu via email, the business mogul debunked the report. The message states “I have no problem whatsoever with Ladi’s decision to endorse anybody. He is old enough to decide what best suits him. He is a politician and I am not” On the report of his disownment of the endorsement, Pa Adebutu says ” it’s purely the funny thoughts of some people somewhere not from me”.
Observers of the smear campaign have wondered why there is such anxiety to disparage a man over his endorsement of a candidate. They believe the fruitless energy which they dissipate on Adebutu should be used to promote their own candidate.
Anyway, at times like this, we expect such desperation of these faceless people to escalate more with the publication of more falsehoods. One thing is, however clear, Ladi Adebutu is unperturbed. The people of Ogun State, whom he has been of tremendous service to personally, have assured him of their support for Akinlade.
Ogun State shall be great again.
