The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, accusing him of plotting to destabilize the state and assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Egbetokun, speaking during the decoration of senior officers in Abuja on Thursday, described the accusations as baseless and unworthy of a response.
“I read about the allegations, but I refuse to dignify such absurdity with a response. We will not allow the distortion of facts against us to go unchallenged,” he said.

Osun PDP had earlier accused the IGP of colluding with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enforce a “non-existent” court order aimed at reinstating former local government chairmen in the state.
The party’s chairman, Sunday Bisi, made the claim while addressing journalists in Osogbo.
However, Egbetokun dismissed the claims, stating that his primary concern was maintaining law and order in Osun State.
“I am too busy for careless talks. Mine is to respond to the call of the Commissioner of Police in the state for reinforcement.
We have reinforced the command and have enough personnel on the ground to ensure law and order,” he stated.
The IGP assured residents of Osun that the police would remain neutral and committed to upholding peace in the state.
