Kelechi Iheanacho put in a supreme performance capped by a wonderful goal as Manchester City defeated Norwich City 3-0 in a third round FA Cup game on Saturday.
Iheanacho was handed a rare start in the absence of the injured Wilfried Bony and the 19-year-old grabbed his chance with aplomb.
He was full of running from the early moments when he fired a fierce shot from an acute angle in the ninth minute which the Norwich goalkeeper, John Ruddy did well to push onto the roof of the net.
Iheanacho forced Ruddy into another excellent save in the 27th minute following a brilliant exchange with City’s Argentine pin up boy, Sergio Aguero.
The Nigerian starlet was not to be denied for much longer though and got in on the act on the half hour; netting brilliantly after he was set up by Aguero.
Iheanacho was eventually substituted in the 86th minute as the City faithful who made the trip to Carrow Road gave him a standing ovation for an excellent day’s work in the office.
He has now scored five goals in 15 mostly-substitute appearances in all competitions for City this season.
