Ali Ndume, who serves as Chief Whip of the Senate, has brushed down reports of a breach between himself and Godswill Akpabio, who serves as Senate President.
Ndume stated that he is older than Akpabio and is able to advise him on matters relating to the Senate because of their age difference.
On Friday, he made the remarks while appearing on the Morning Show programme broadcast on Arise TV.
“I’m older than Akpabio and can advise him on issues pertaining to the Senate,” Ndume is quoted as saying. I was the Director General of Akpabio’s campaign, which meant that as a result of my job, I was his primary supporter and marketer in his bid to become the President of the Senate.
“We don’t have to agree on everything in order to disagree on it. Both Akpabio and I are members of the same profession, and we share the same interests.
During the month of October, Senators Akpabio and Ndume engaged in a heated exchange of words on the Senate floor.
As a result of the tension, Ndume left the Senate chamber while it was still in session.
