Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has revealed the first thing he did after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced him the victor of Saturday’s election for the governorship of the state.
The poll took place on Saturday.
Uzodinma claimed that after the election on Saturday, he went to the chapel to thank God for assuring that he would win.
On Monday, the governor of the state made this information public during a press conference in Owerri, the capital of the state.
Uzodinma, too, credited God Almighty as the source of his success.
His words were as follows: “To the glory of God, INEC declared me the winner of the governorship election that was held in our state on Saturday.”
“I accept the great honor and privilege of serving as your governor for a second term with a profound sense of humility and an unwavering faith in God. Thank you for the opportunity.”
“Because I acknowledge God in everything I do and because I am aware that power comes from God, the very first thing I did upon hearing the news was to make my way to the Chapel to thank God for his goodness to both me and the people of Imo State. I know that power comes from God.”
“Of course, I’ll never be able to give God enough thanks for coming through for me once more. Because the All-Mighty God has demonstrated that he was the one who accomplished it four years ago and has done it again, I give thanks to him and to the wonderful people of Imo State for this victory.
After receiving the most votes, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday that Uzodinma was the victor in Saturday’s election for the governorship.
Uzodinma was declared the victor by the Returning Officer for INEC’s election in Imo State, Professor Abayomi Fasina. Uzodinma received 540,308 votes, which allowed him to triumph over the other contenders.
Samuel Anyanwu, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), finished in a distant second place with 71,503 votes, and Athan Achonu, the candidate for the Labour Party, finished in third place with 64,081 votes.
