The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State has taken delivery of both non-sensitive and sensitive materials ahead of the scheduled re-run election in the state.
The election, set to take place in Saki West State Constituency, has been scheduled for Saturday.
The materials, which include ballot papers, result sheets, replacement forms, and other necessary items, were received by the Commission at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Ibadan.
The delivery was made amidst tight security measures, with the presence of representatives from major political parties, INEC administrative secretary, Mr. Agboola Razaq, and other stakeholders.
Dr. Rahman Adeniran Tella, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, confirmed the receipt of six cartons of materials, emphasizing that the Commission would utilize two Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines and two backups for the election process.
Furthermore, Dr. Tella revealed that the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Hamzat Adebola, has assured the deployment of 182 police officers to ensure security during the election.
This proactive measure aims to maintain order and security throughout the electoral process, ensuring a peaceful and transparent re-run election in Oyo State.
