The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has congratulated Professor Mahmood Yakubu on his re-appointment as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The body encouraged him to keep up with the electoral reforms he initiated.
National Chairman, Leonard Nzenwa, in a statement on Wednesday, said Yakubu’s re-appointment was good for Nigeria.
Nzenwa noted that the electoral chief did well in his first term.
He praised Yakubu’s digitalization programme, pointing out that it has transformed the conduct of elections in the country.
Nzenwa added that the, “smooth conduct” of Edo and Ondo governorship elections confirmed that the technology INEC deployed was effective.
“We urge him to continue with the strident effort to help in reformation of the electoral process, even as we urge the chairman to put his foot down to ensure that Nigerians’ votes count in all elections in the country going forward,” he concluded.
