Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has come out to say that players shouldn’t apologize for missing penalties. He recently revealed that it is actually embarrassing when footballers do such after failing to convert a spot-kick.
According to him, players that have done so in the past actually need to sack their PR people because it is really an embarrassment.
He added that the apology culture that is engulfing football would be fine if it was coming from a genuine place.
His words, “Should players really be apologising for missing penalties?”
“It’s embarrassing! They need to sack their PR people, speak with some authenticity and get on with it.”
“I’m going to go big on this in the next few weeks. They’ve all got these comms managers, that are creating personalities that don’t exist!”
“The apology culture that’s engulfing football would be ok if it came from a genuine place. However more often than not it’s a smokescreen and diversion tactic designed to mask a cr*p performance by experts!! Lose a game = crisis comms meet! How do we spin this one our way?”
