A former acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, on Saturday said it would be a herculean task for the party to reclaim Kwara State in the 2015 elections.
Kawu, who is now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, spoke on the backdrop of President Goodluck Jonathan’s vow that PDP will recapture its ‘stolen mandate’ in Kwara come 2015.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara capital on Saturday after attending the APC ward congress in his Baboko ward, Baraje claimed that PDP members were making such quest, because according to him, APC members in the state are master planners and pace setters when it comes to political organization, cohesion and internal stability.
He stated that he is not surprised by PDP’s desperation to recapture Kwara.
“We promise them that those of us who have been there queuing up behind our leader, Senator Bukola Saraki who has been there for us; his father, late Dr. Olusola Saraki was there for us.
“Saraki took over from his father. When there was nobody and when there was no political activity, he was there. Whenever there is political activity, he is there, persistent, consistent and insistent. That has gone on for over four decades.
“How can some body, a stranger come overnight and say he is going to take over that kind of tradition? It is impossible! We are expecting them (PDP). We are not going to fight and we are not going to cause any disruption. We will go through free, fair and credible elections and APC shall emerge the winners”, he said.
