Van Jones, CNN debate show commentator and former Obama administration policy adviser, is starting his own series.
“The Van Jones Show” debuts next Saturday (January 27) with JAY-Z as the inaugural guest. As Variety reports, JAY is set to talk about his latest album 4:44.
“[The album] is a real social justice classic, and I want to talk to him about that,” Jones said. Along with the issues of race and class JAY-Z discusses on the LP, the rapper has openly supported Black Lives Matter activist and football player Colin Kaepernick and penned a New York Times op-ed critiquing Meek Mill’s excessive sentence and the overall American criminal justice system.
JAY-Z is also slated to appear on David Letterman’s new interview show, which opened with guest Barack Obama.
4:44 leads the 2018 Grammys with eight nominations. Last month, he dropped the Ava DuVernay-directed and Flying Lotus-scored video for his track “Family Feud” with Beyoncé.
