The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to a 2019 case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, following an extensive investigation.
This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, and made available to DAILY POST.
Arrest of Suspects
The arrested suspects include:
- Malam Adamu Aliyu (Hadejia LGA)
- Malam Mukhtar Abdulmumin (Auyo LGA)
- Malam Nafiu Ibrahim (Miga LGA)
Shiisu stated that the suspects were apprehended in Illela, Sokoto State, by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse, after years of evading law enforcement.
Details of the Crime
The case dates back to July 2, 2019, when a 19-year-old victim, Ahmad Abdullahi, of Fanisau Quarters, was reported missing by his brother, Tijjani Umar, at Hadejia ‘A’ Division.
According to police investigations, the suspects allegedly lured Abdullahi with a fraudulent promise of spiritual money-making, claiming it would enable him to travel abroad for studies.
They reportedly collected ₦400,000 from him before taking him to a riverside in Hadejia, where they strangled him and dumped his body into the water after he demanded a refund.
Following the crime, the suspects fled to the Niger Republic, where they remained until their arrest in Illela on February 8, 2025.
Prosecution
SP Shiisu confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to Jigawa State for prosecution and have already been charged to court.
