Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first goal for Manchester City in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday as the Citizens beat German club, Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
The 19-year-old did not start the game for City as he was only drafted in as an 83rd minute replacement for Argentinean striker, Kun Sergio Aguero who had netted a fantastic hattrick to put his side 3-0 up before his withdrawal.
He did not disappoint his manager, Pep Guardiola, for the faith shown in him as he ensured City won with a flourish, netting a superb goal in the first minute of second half stoppage time.
The Nigerian striker displayed intelligent movement to create space for himself in the Monchengladbach box before dispatching Leroy Sane’s intelligent pass, left-footed past goalkeeper, Yann Sommer from seven yards.
Iheanacho has now scored 10 goals across the Premier League and Champions League for Manchester City in just 830 minutes of action.
The young striker chose to dwell on a fantastic Manchester City team performance ahead of personal milestones as he reflected on the game afterwards.
“Great result and great team performance from the team #MCFC,” he tweeted via @67kelechi.
He has now scored two goals across all competitions for City this season.
