Former Nigeria national team coach Stephen Keshi says he is in “shock” following the death of his wife on Wednesday.
Kate Keshi died after a three-year battle with cancer.
The former Nigeria national team captain struggled to not cry as he extolled the qualities of his late wife.
“I am in shock. She was quite ill a while ago but recently she seemed better, so this is coming as quite a shock to me.
“She was my best friend, so this is hard to take.
“I want to thank everyone that has sent in their condolences to the family,” Keshi told supersport.com from the United States.
Kate, who died aged 54, was married to Keshi for the last 33 years and is survived by four children.
