King Sunny Ade celebrates turning 70 years old and 50 years of unbeatable art and musicianship.
As was expected a befitting celebration was hosted in his honour on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
The event tagged ‘Sunny on Sunday’ saw a host of celebrities, Lagos socialites and fans come out to rock with the King. The festivity packed with energy and live music was hosted by comedian Tee-A, actress Funke Akindele and on air personality Lolo1.

Music icons

To celebrate KSA, music icons like the elegant Onyeka Onwenu, Sir Shina Peters and Awilo who made sure Nigerians knew just how much he loved KSA were present and boy did they bring on a show.
The billionaires
King Sunny Ade is known to perform at high class events and sing special praises for dignitaries at celebrations so it was no surprise that the likes of Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote and Tunde Folawiyo were there to mark attendance at Sunny On Sunday.
The Government officials and royal fathers
Nigerian government officials were not left from the fun – Governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji Fashola, former deputy Governor of Lagos Princess Sarah Adebisi Sosan and several others were spotted in the VIP section. #
His royal majesty Oba Saheed Elegushi was also seen seated on the same table as the music king.
The Media Bosses
The big wigs of Nigerian media were also there CEO of Megalectrics Limited Chris Ubosi, and Smooth Promotions CEO Ayo Animashaun were at the event.
The performers
Without a doubt, many Nigerians have come across King Sunny Ade’s music and it’s all affected them one way or the other. Several Nigerian artistes took to the stage to pay respect to the King with their own renditions of his songs. They include: Darey, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage, Niniola and more.

KSA loyals
Many KSA fans came in from outside Lagos specially to mark this occasion. There were several groups dressed in varieties of aso-ebi.
