The Kogi State Police Command has assured protesters planning a nationwide protest on February 27 and 28, 2024, of adequate security during the period.
The assurance was given by the Kogi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement on Monday night.
He disclosed that Commissioner of Police Bethrand Onuoha, during an engagement meeting with labour leaders in Lokoja, appealed to them to ensure a peaceful protest.
“The meeting was aimed at appealing to the labour union to conduct themselves within the law to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the process.
He (CP) further appealed for cooperation from the labour leaders so as to deny hoodlums the opportunity to hijack the process.
CP Onuoha assures of adequate Security deployment during the protest,” Aya said.
The meeting was attended by the Kogi State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari, and chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani.
Senior police officers present included DCP Chike Louis Nwabuwa, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, and SP Shamsideen Bawa Ibrahim, Admin Officer, Operations.
