The Labour Party Chairman in Kaduna State, Isah Chiroma, and Abdullahi Imrah, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for Kafachan Ward B in Jema’a Local Government Area (LGA), have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the local government election scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Chiroma announced his defection during the APC campaign flag-off and presentation of flags to councillorship candidates.
He cited the inclusive governance approach of Governor Uba Sani and the infrastructural development in Southern Kaduna as key reasons for joining APC, expressing his commitment to moving the state forward.
Similarly, Imrah explained that, despite the proximity to the election, he chose to leave the PDP and align with Peter Tanko Dogara, APC’s chairmanship candidate for Jema’a LGA, to collaborate on national progress.
Kaduna Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, welcomed the defectors, congratulating them on what she described as a wise decision. She assured them of full integration into the APC and promised they would be carried along.
Commenting on the upcoming election, Dr. Balarabe said the turnout at the campaign indicated that APC was on the path to victory. She urged party members to conduct themselves peacefully during the polls.
Speaking to reporters, APC chairmanship candidate Peter Tanko Dogara pledged to deliver good governance and transparency to the people of Jema’a LGA.
“I have a lot to offer the community. Security, healthcare, investment, and empowerment are priorities, and these are the areas we will focus on to bring meaningful change,” Dogara stated.
