Labour Party Gears Up for Edo 2024 Elections with Capacity Building Program

In a strategic move to secure the governorship seat in the upcoming Edo 2024 election, the Labour Party (LP) has announced its repositioning efforts, highlighted by a comprehensive capacity building program.

Mr Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, conveyed this message during a statement in Abuja.

The initiative, spearheaded in Edo, entails a rigorous training program for ward and local government executives.

Mr Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the party, voiced his optimism about the Labour Party’s pivotal role in rescuing both the nation and Edo State from perceived governance challenges.

“The intention of the programme is to build the capacity of our local governments and ward executives in terms of what they are expected to do during an election,” stated Abure during the training session.

Emphasizing the significance of grassroots efforts, he added, “Labour party believes that elections are won and lost at the ward or local government’s level, depending on the action and inaction of members.”

Abure underscored the party’s conviction that it is uniquely positioned to address the socio-economic challenges facing the state and the nation.

Pointing out issues like infrastructure decay, poverty, hunger, and unemployment, he asserted that the Labour Party holds the ideology to transform these circumstances and propel the country toward greatness.

“The high level of infrastructure decay, poverty, hunger and unemployment is unimaginable, and the Labour Party has the ideology to change the trajectory and reposition the country for greatness,” affirmed Abure.

Highlighting the strategic importance of candidate selection, Abure emphasized, “Edo is looking up to our party to do the needful by giving them the right candidate that can defend their votes.

Our main objective today in Edo is how to win the election with the right candidate that has the capacity to win.”

Additionally, Abure revealed that similar training sessions would be conducted in other senatorial districts, signaling the Labour Party’s commitment to preparing comprehensively for victory in the 2024 elections.
