Football stars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are set to take their rivalry from the pitch to hotel world.
Barcelona star Messi and Ronaldo of Real Madrid have been rivals for almost a decade, competing for every single trophy and individual award in world football.
Both football stars have also invested in hotels, taking the most competitive rivalry in the history of football to business.
In October 2016, the Portugal star officially opened his flagship hotel, ‘Pestana CR7 Lisboa’ in Madeira with branches in Funchal, Madrid and New York.
Following in his rival’s footsteps, Messi has bought a £26m luxury hotel in a beach town close to the city.
According to Spanish paper Expansion, Messi splashed huge sum on the four-star-hotel which has 77 rooms.
The hotel which is located at the beach town of Sitges, is very close to the beach which is about 40km from Barcelona.
The hotel which was built in 2013 was recently named MiM. Prices for rooms at the hotel range from 250 euros to 300 euros per night.
Messi makes the purchase after recently establishing a new company for investment in hotels and apartment where he is the president and his brother Rodrigo the sole administrator.
