Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has recognized a significant concern in front of the governorship race that will take place on November 11.
According to Abure, the amount of insecurity that exists in Kogi and Imo states is a big cause for concern in the run-up to the elections for governor.
During an appearance on Sunday’s episode of People’s Townhall on Election Security on Channels Television, the chairman of the LP made the following statement: “My party and candidates are very worried about the security situation, particularly in Imo and Kogi.” Throughout the course of our campaigns, mysterious gunmen have repeatedly broken into our offices and attacked us. In certain instances, security agencies are present alongside [the individuals who carry out] certain operations similar to those that took place during the assault on our office.
All of these operations generate significant concerns over the safety of people’s lives and the protection of their property, particularly in the states of Imo and Kogi. As a political party, our primary concern lies in the states of Imo and Kogi.
“There is significantly less violence in Bayelsa. There is a possibility that Bayelsa will not become a major flashpoint. Bayelsa State does not pose a significant concern for us at this time.”
