The National Treasurer of the Labour Party (LP), Mrs. Oluchi Oparah, has leveled accusations against the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, accusing him of engaging in anti-party activities.
Oparah made these allegations during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show program on Tuesday.
Her statements follow her demand, made during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, for Abure to provide an account of party funds totaling over N3.5 billion.
These funds reportedly stem from the sale of forms and various fundraisers for the upcoming 2023 general elections.
According to Oparah, Abure has obstructed her from carrying out her constitutionally designated duty of managing the party’s finances.
She also refuted a statement issued by the Labour Party claiming that she was being sponsored by external parties, stating, “They are masters at disseminating wrong information.”
Furthermore, Oparah alleged that Abure has been in alliance and negotiations with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in Edo State.
She emphasized the need for a proper investigation into these allegations, asserting that if there is anyone with an alliance to the opposition, it is the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
