Louis van Gaal has revealed that Manchester United will be his final job before retirement, reports The Telegraph.
.
The 63-year-old took over at United last summer after leading the Netherlands to a surprise third-place finish at the World Cup in Brazil, and he has one of the most impressive CVs in modern football.
.
He led a very young Ajax team to glory in the Champions League in 1995, and he also won three successive league titles with the club.
.
Van Gaal has also won silverware with Barcelona, AZ, and Bayern Munich, and he has been tasked with leading United back into the Champions League this season, before making the club genuine challengers for major honours again.
.
The Dutchman agreed a three-year deal with United, as reported by the BBC, and he doesn’t see himself working with another team when he eventually leaves Old Trafford.
.
Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: “This is my last job. For sure. I have to pay attention to my kids, my grandchildren but also to my wife. They deserve it. Now I cannot pay that attention. I was not at the birthday of my grandson for example. I don’t like it.”
.
Van Gaal’s team made a very poor start to the season, and they only won 13 points from their first ten league games, which was their worst opening to a domestic campaign since 1986. They have improved as the season has gone on, and they are currently in fourth place. His side have scored 50 goals and conceded 26 in 29 top flight games.
.
United take on Liverpool at home this weekend in a game that could go a long way to deciding who secures Champions League qualification.
