A man identified as Okandeji has reportedly led a group of suspected thugs to assault his 20-year-old daughter’s boyfriend, Ikolo Ochuko, resulting in the latter’s death.
The incident occurred on December 12 in Ugboroke Community, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
InfoStride News gathered that the victim, a 35-year-old barber, was severely beaten and sustained grievous injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on December 20.
Sources revealed that Okandeji had previously warned Ochuko to stay away from his daughter, expressing disapproval of his profession as a barber.
Following a series of threats from Okandeji and advice from friends, Ochuko reportedly ended the relationship.
However, it was alleged that he was later attacked in his barbershop by Okandeji and the suspected thugs, leaving him critically injured.
The news of Ochuko’s death prompted some of the suspected assailants to flee the community. Meanwhile, Okandeji has been arrested by the police.
When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said, “I am not aware yet until they report the matter to the Command.”
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
