MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly made a bid to sign Monaco star Bernardo Silva, according to reports.
Silva, 22, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
French outlet Le 10 Sport claimed last month that Jose Mourinho made the Portugal international a priority transfer target for this summer.
While Canal+ suggested this week that United have moved ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race to sign Silva after holding advanced talks with the player himself.
But France Football claim there has been another twist in the transfer saga with United now making an offer “that cannot be refused” to sign the playmaker.
The magazine reckon he is likely to leave the newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions, but there is no indication of the fee Manchester United have tabled.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to splash £200million on signings this summer and Silva could be the first man to be ticked off of his transfer wish list.
The Portuguese boss is intent on revamping his squad in the summer as he looks to push for the Premier League title next season.
United could also be playing Champions League football next season if they beat Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday in Stockholm (7.45pm) and Mourinho wants to build a squad that can challenge for European titles.
And the signing of Silva could prove to be a shrewd addition with the player himself having Champions League experience under his belt.
Silva admitted this week that he is open to a move while his stock is high.
“I am finishing my third season in Monaco, who gave me the opportunity to play at a higher level,” Silva told Portuguese TV station SIC Noticias.
“But of course, every player dreams of playing for the best teams and in the best divisions one day.
“I’m no exception.”
But it is not only Silva that has been linked with United as Kylian Mbappe and Bakayoko are also said to be attracting interest.
Silva has made 58 appearances for Monaco across all competitions this season and has scored 11 goals.
He is contracted to the club until the summer of 2020.
