Nollywood actress Moji Olaiya, a star actress who has featured in several hit Yoruba movies, died in Canada. She was 42.
Moji Olaiya is reported to have died of cardiac arrest. She gave birth to a baby girl in March in Canada.
Born on February 27, 1975, she is the daughter of Nigerian highlife legend Sir Victor Olaiya
She made her acting debut on TV, as a character in a season of Wale Adenuga’s ‘Super Story’ series titled ‘No Pain, No Gain’. The 32 episode long series helped introduce Moji Olaiya who played the role of Ireti to the Nigerian audience.
Moji Olaiya followed up her impressive debut with a strong performance in the Yoruba movie ‘Agunbaniro’. This started her run of impressive performances in Yoruba movies. In 2016 she produced a movie titled ‘Iya Okomi’.
In 2007, Moji Olaiya married Bayo Okesola. The marriage crashed a year later with unverified claims of domestic violence. In 2014, she converted to Islam. It was reported that she was in a relationship with an anonymous Alhaji.
Moji Olaiya is survived by two daughters.
