Rep. Ngozi Okolie (LP), who represents the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency in Delta State, has said that his opponent in the last general election, PDP member Ndudi Elumelu, knew he wouldn’t win but thought he could buy the victory with money.
Okolie claims that Ndudi, who contested his election victory in tribunal, was just out to “fish” and see who would join him.
The lower panel that overturned the politician’s election “fished” with Ndudi, according to the lawmaker.
Okolie made the assertion during a Friday appearance on Arise Television.
According to previous reports by Infostride News, on Thursday the court of appeal in Abuja reversed the decision of the National and State House of Assembly victory Tribunal in Asaba to overturn Okolie’s victory and reinstate Elumelu as the rightful victor.
According to the court, the LP candidate did not meet the requirements to run in the election.
Okolie, however, stated that Ndudi contested his statement because he was so reliant on his money.
According to him, “everyone who understands law knows quite well that the tribunal didn’t deliver justice in the judgement they made, and that’s why we chose to go on appeal. Even more miraculously, the appeals court disagreed with the lower court’s decision, restoring many people’s faith in the judicial system.
Everyone who hears the appeal court’s decision would realize that something serious went wrong in Asaba.
Ndudi is my friend, but despite knowing full well that he lost the election, he stubbornly holds to the mistaken belief that money can buy influence.
So, he put a lot of stock in money, and the judges showed him you can’t purchase happiness.
The election was a foregone conclusion for him. Everything he presented to the tribunal was already known to him; he was only casting around for a willing fishing partner. The lesser judges went fishing with him, but the elders told him, “No, money can’t buy everything.”
