The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku has called on parents to always monitor the activities of their children to prevent them from becoming victims of social vices which could result to psychiatric disorders.

Adding, parents have the responsibility to teach their children good morals and monitor their social life – the way they dress and associate with peers.
Labaran Maku noted that the nation has responsibility for the youths just as the youths themselves have responsibility for their future and urged them to desist from anti-social behaviours such as alcohol and drug taking. He expressed delight for the on-going projects in the hospital, saying the Federal Government has invested heavily in medical care in the last three years in both the Teaching Hospitals and Federal Medical Centres to enable them offer services which are stipulated for them.
He urged Nigerians to patronise the nation’s health facilities as they are full of medical personnel that are trained in different specialised cases of equal standard with those outside the country.
The Minister held that the present administration has given much attention to healthcare delivery for Nigerian people such as primary and rural healthcare services. He also urged the media to draw people’s attention to these services at the federal, states and local government areas.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Neuro – Psychiatric Hospital, Ramalan Yero observed that the core mandates of the hospital are the provision of specialised mental health services, the training of mental healthcare professionals and research in mental health related fields.
Ramalan Yero also stated that the projects billed for inspection such as the Occupational Therapy Building were conceived and completed within the period 2010 – 2013 in accordance to the President Goodluck Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda.
