InfoStride News reported that the Lagos Area Committee of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers is joining forces with the Insurfeel Initiative to advance insurance education by providing free policies labeled ‘School Care Cover’ to students.
This collaborative effort aims to offer deserving students complimentary insurance coverage for personal accidents while at school, during vacations, and anywhere within Nigeria. Additionally, it includes provisions for the payment of school fees to the named beneficiaries of the insured parent or guardian in specific situations, such as permanent disability resulting from an accident and death, whether accidental or natural.
Demola Olutusin, the Chairman of the Lagos Area Committee of the NCRIB, expressed the committee’s commitment to enhancing the education and safety of students. He emphasized that this partnership would have a positive impact on the lives of students, the insurance industry, and, by extension, the nation. Olutusin highlighted the importance of introducing students to insurance early in their lives, with the area committee utilizing quiz competitions among schools for this purpose.
Chuks Okonta, the Promoter of the Insurfeel Initiative, shared that this collaboration is part of the initiative’s advocacy strategy. This strategy involves partnering with organizations, associations, and groups to donate free insurance policies to the uninsured. Okonta revealed that Insurfeel Initiative has already donated two distinct insurance policies – School Care Cover and Uni Personal Accident Cover – to individuals unfamiliar with insurance, aiming to give them a firsthand experience of how insurance works.
Okonta urged organizations, especially within the insurance sector, to embrace the initiative and use it to offer insurance products as souvenirs to the public. He emphasized the need for the industry to contribute to increasing insurance penetration, which he described as low. Insurfeel Initiative recently donated free insurance policies to members of the public and is committed to further donations while promoting the advocacy strategy to encourage individuals, organizations, associations, and groups to make similar contributions.
The statement noted that Insurfeel Initiative, developed by the Publisher of Inspenonline, Okonta, follows ‘The Suya Seller Strategy,’ which involves allowing individuals to experience a product before making a purchase. This approach aligns with the initiative’s goal of making insurance more accessible and understandable to the general public.
In summary, the collaboration between the Lagos Area Committee of the NCRIB and Insurfeel Initiative signifies a significant step toward promoting insurance education and providing tangible benefits to students through free insurance policies. The initiative’s advocacy strategy aims to involve various entities in donating insurance policies, ultimately contributing to increased awareness and penetration of insurance in Nigeria.
