Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has come out to reveal why he started Boubakary Soumare ahead of Wilfred Ndidi against Chelsea. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he made that decision because the Nigerian midfielder might not have fitted the way he wanted the team to play against the Blues.
Brendan added that he wanted his team to come through the pitch quicker, and Soumare is better suited to that.
His words, “We wanted to come through the pitch quicker. Soumare has been great in training and he has committed now to staying at the club, which is great,”
“He allows us to play through the thirds quickly and that was the reason for him coming in instead [of Ndidi].”
On Soumare, “There’s been a few clubs interested in him. He was very close to maybe going. He came to me the other day saying he was very keen to stay. He doesn’t want to end the story on the past year he’s had.”
