The People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) has called for an independent audit of the over N5 billion allegedly expended on the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by the Niger State Government.
The PDP made the call in a press statement signed by the state chairman, Tanko Beji and made available to newsmen in Minna.
He argued that it is questionable for such an amount to have been expended when in truth most IDPs can hardly eat a single ration of food in a day
Beji insisted, ” it will be recalled that even when IDPs thronged into the state capital most of them didn’t stay up to 5 days”
“Could it be that the APC led administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is trying hard to balance its accounts?”.
The statement further reads,” the PDP wishes to call on the Niger State Government to come out clean, apologize for its years of failure and quietly walk away in 2023 as it is glaring that after about 6 years and a budget of over N800 billion there is nothing on ground to show that APC ever came on board in Niger State”
“This could be the reason the APC led Government of Governor Sani Bello is now sweating tooth and nail to balance its irreconcilable accounts by robbing John to pay Paul”.
The PDP further called for an Independent Audit of the N5 billion expenditure on IDPs as well as others like the N10billion on pension, N1.2 billion on COVID-19 and many more.
