The Rivers State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, between the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) and Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).
The Memorandum was signed on behalf of the hospital, by the Chairman Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State, Prof. Chizindu Alikor. The agreement which is engendered to facilitate the building and setting up of a Haemodialysis and Kidney Transplant Centre in RSUTH is to be completed and handed over to the hospital in 12 months.
The finalization of the agreement which took place today, at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, was witnessed by officials of both parties to the agreement.
According to the hospital, the centre will enable a drastic yet positive change in the manner in which patients are taken care of with renal pathologies in place and enhance the training of Nephrologists and Kidney Transplant Surgeons in Rivers State.
The Nigerian Medical Association thereby appreciated who contributed in one way or the other to make it possible. The hospital however made a call for similar projects which will ultimately improve the health of people.
