Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has declared that all is well between him and former First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
He said the former president’s wife was campaigning for his re-election.
The governorship election for Bayelsa State has been slated for December 5, 2015.
Speaking with reporters after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the Peoples Democratic Party primaries ahead of the elections, Dickson said the Bayelsa PDP was united for the task ahead.
He also said the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not a threat to his re-election or the PDP.
Describing the APC as a “party of aspirants who cannot win elections in the state”, Dickson maintained that he is on ground and prepared to slug it out with other contenders, expressing optimism that we would win the PDP primary election.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari cannot use federal might to help his party, the APC to win the elections, adding that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can also not sit down somewhere and write results of elections as Nigerians now have the true powers to determine who governs them through elections.
“There is no rift between me and my elder brother’s wife. We are in good terms and she is campaigning for me. This has led to a major boost in my second term bid.
“I am not a politician running for elections at this level based on promises or propaganda. It is based on my verifiable achievements in all the sectors including the provision of infrastructure, peace and security.
“Political victory has nothing to do with federal might but it is about having structures in place. So the PDP is unshakeable. What we are doing now is to win elections for a second term and consolidate on our achievements”, the governor said.
Dickson was accompanied to the PDP national secretariat by PDP leaders in the state including a former governor of the state, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.
