The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that all eligible prospective corps members must register for mobilization using their National Identification Numbers (NIN) beginning with the 2024 mobilization exercise.
This decision emerged from a meeting between the NYSC Management, led by Director General Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), led by Director General Abisoye Coker-Odusote, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Brig Gen Ahmed emphasized that the collaboration with NIMC aims to enhance the online registration process for NYSC.
He also highlighted the effectiveness of the NYSC Integrated System, implemented in 2014, in streamlining the mobilization process.
In response, NIMC Director General Coker-Odusote expressed the commission’s readiness to collaborate with NYSC, praising the latter’s mobilization protocols and its role in shaping corps members for leadership roles over its 50 years of operation.
Coker-Odusote affirmed that the partnership would simplify the mobilization process and address various challenges.
She further mentioned NIMC’s existing collaborations with several government agencies, underscoring the importance of such partnerships in achieving shared objectives.
