The Obidient Movement has expressed grave concern over what it described as a reckless verbal attack on Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
The movement, in a statement signed by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, highlighted recent comments made by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during an interview on Arise TV on January 5, 2025.
Morka had remarked that Obi had “crossed the line so many times” and that “whatever he gets, he should manage it.”

Dr. Tanko described Morka’s statement as a direct threat to Peter Obi’s life and the peace of the Nigerian state.
The Obidient Movement views the remarks as an endorsement of violence and a signal of the country’s descent into authoritarianism under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
“Such a declaration from the spokesperson of the ruling party is reckless, unbecoming, and a blatant endorsement of violence,” the statement read.
The movement demanded clarity from Morka and the APC, asking, “What line has Peter Obi crossed? Who drew this line, and under what authority? What exactly is coming to Peter Obi?”
The group further accused the Tinubu administration of opting for repression over dialogue, intimidation over engagement, and threats over democratic discourse.
It issued a stern warning, stating, “If any harm befalls Mr. Peter Obi, his family, or anyone associated with him, the Nigerian government and its agents will be held directly responsible.”
The Obidient Movement also called on Nigerians and the international community to take note of what it described as a troubling pattern of threats and intimidation by the ruling party.
It urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate Morka’s statement and ensure accountability.
“We urge the security services not to sweep such threats under the carpet as they have done in previous times but to engage Mr. Morka for clarification on his utterances,” the group stated.
The concerns raised by the movement follow Peter Obi’s earlier claim that his life is under threat due to his vocal criticism of the Tinubu administration.
