It was a solemn affair as close friends, colleagues and family members sent forth the late musician, songwriter and producer OJB yesterday, July 8, 2016 at O’jez event center, National Stadium, Surulere.
The singer who died on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, following complications reported to have risen from his Kidney ailment was strongly eulogised by close friend and former associate, Ruggedman.
While speaking at OJB’s tribute, the rapper revealed that the late music producer played an important role in his career.
According to him, “I thank him for the impact he made in my career. He tried to take care of us.”
Efe Omorogbe, manager of the Hypertek act had this to say about the late veteran: “He was my personal friend and I love him so much.”
The event which was anchored by Okey Bakassi had in attendance some of the entertainment industry’s popular faces such as: K- Solo, Essence, Rasqie, DJ Humility, KSB, Okey Bakassi, Sammie Okposo, Lara George, Azadus, Dj Boombastic, Grace Amah, Dj Gosporella, Jazzman Olofin and Ruggedman.
His funeral service is currently ongoing at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Grace Chapel, 129, Ogunlana Drive Surulere, Lagos.
He will be buried at the Ikoyi Cemetery, Ikoyi immediately after service.
He is survived by his father, Chief Anthony Okungbowa (Arase of Agbor); siblings, Mrs.Theresa Ebunola Gamba (USA), Mr. Cornelius Archibong (England), Mr. Albert Okungbowa (USA), Mr. Anthony Okungbowa, Marvin Okungbowa, Bose Ajila Okungbowa, Joseph Okungbowa; wives, Mabel Babatunde Okungbowa, June Okungbowa, Korede Okungbowa and eight children.
