Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin has visited Chad Republic where he joined other regional military chiefs to deliberate on agreement to accelerate the deployment of the 8,700 strong Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to end Boko Haram insurgency in the region.
The Chiefs of Defence Staff from the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) member countries, including Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Benin Republic, met in N’Djamena, the capital of Chad Republic and finalized details of deployment of the joint force set to fight the insurgent group that has killed thousands of people.
According to a statement from the Defence headquarters, “General Olonisakin has been working round the clock towards actualizing the Presidential directive to end Boko Haram terrorists’ activities within three months.
“To this end, the meeting discussed modality for the deployment of joint force to 2 command posts in Nigeria and Cameroon. Also, officers seconded to the MNJTF in N’Djamena were ordered to report immediately to their post, as operation at the Force Headquarters has commenced.”
Those present at the meeting were the Chiefs of Defence Staff from the LCBC member countries, MNJTF Commander and other senior military delegates.
