Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has described the upcoming Ondo State governorship election as a significant opportunity for Nigerians to demonstrate that their frustrations and dissatisfaction can lead to meaningful change.
Makinde called on the people of Ondo State to turn out en masse and cast their votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing the party’s potential to address Nigeria’s challenges and deliver good governance.
Rallying Support for the PDP
In a statement on Friday, Makinde urged voters to make a bold statement against what he described as the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) lack of people-centred policies.
He highlighted the PDP’s track record in states it governs as proof of its ability to steer Nigeria out of its current economic difficulties.
“Let me begin by encouraging everyone in Ondo State to come out this Saturday and make a bold statement in the elections.
Let all supporters of good governance stand up and say enough of the APC and its lack of people-centred policies. It is time for Nigerians to rally behind the PDP,”* Makinde said.
He added, “Ondo State is a litmus test for Nigerians to show that their hunger and anger can bring about real change. Tell everyone you know that the PDP is the party that can rescue Nigeria.”
Citing PDP’s Achievements
Makinde referenced the developmental strides of PDP-led states, including Oyo, where he recently presented the Budget of Economic Stabilization.
“As always, it was a people-first budget. Based on data from previous years, there is a 7:10 chance of us successfully implementing the items in the budget.
So, the people of Oyo State can expect more infrastructure development, more educational projects, and greater economic progress,” he explained.
Makinde assured that with the right decisions and continued efforts, Nigeria could look forward to economic stability by 2025.
A Call to Action
The governor concluded by urging the people of Ondo State to seize this opportunity to drive change through their votes.
“We must keep pushing and making the right decisions in the overall interest of our people and our nation,”* Makinde said.
The Ondo State governorship election is expected to serve as a key indicator of voter sentiments ahead of future national and state elections.
