A yet to be identified woman lost her life, while eight others were injured when a high calibre improvised explosive device concealed in a refrigerator went off at New Road motor park, Sabon Gari area of Kano metropolis.
The incident came just a day after a twin bomb attack killed over 80 people in Kaduna.
The incident which occurred at 3:00pm raised tension in the commercial city.
A truck pusher wheeled the refrigerator into the park beating security checks by both security agents and the park management, reports Vanguard citing an eyewitness.
According to SaharaReporters,a resident, who spoke over the phone, said the explosive devices were hidden in a worktop fridge, concealed in a bag and dropped off by two men masquerading as travelers.
The blast has also been confirmed by the Kano State Police Command, saying: “Explosion has occurred at New Road Motor Park, Sabon-Gari, Kano, at 3pm. Explosives [were] hidden in table-top fridge disguised as luggage.”
