Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has said the police are the ones that can keep Nigeria united.
Represented by his deputy, Mr Rauf Olaniyan, Makinde said this today when a team of 68 Squadron Commanders presently undergoing a course in Osun state paid him a courtesy visit in Ibadan.
He said it is the job of the police to protect the lives and property of citizens, hence protecting their unity.
His words, “The police have enormous tasks to perform as regards the protection of citizens’ lives and property under the civil government that the nation operates.”
He urged the police to keep safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.
He added that a unique course for the Squadron Unit Commanders would aid the performance of the different units after the programme is over.
The leader of the Squadron team, Mr Livingstone Orutugu also had this to say, “The 68 officers were drawn from across the country and brought to the MPF training school at Ila- Orangun to be given professional training and job specific knowledge of Squadron Commanders.”
