Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption campaign as a beacon of hope and a demonstration of solidarity with the masses across the nation.
Speaking at the Enugu airport on Sunday, Okechukwu expressed his support for President Tinubu’s efforts to break the economic stranglehold imposed by a small group of wealthy individuals who have mismanaged funds meant for industrial development, thereby perpetuating widespread poverty.
He emphasized the need to recover misappropriated funds, citing the recent actions of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in investigating the utilization of foreign exchange earmarked for industrialization.
Okechukwu applauded these efforts as crucial steps towards reclaiming Nigeria’s wealth for the benefit of all citizens.
Referring to the EFCC’s operations at the headquarters of Dangote Group and other prominent firms, Okechukwu recalled a statement by Senator Remi Tinubu, the First Lady, during an Independence Thanksgiving Service, where she emphasized the need for Nigeria’s wealth to benefit everyone.
He expressed hope that President Tinubu would continue to pursue such actions in collaboration with legal expert Femi Falana to reduce the nation’s debt burden and revitalize the economy.
Okechukwu asserted that President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the anti-corruption crusade is crucial in preventing further economic downturns, stemming the emigration of medical professionals, and reversing Nigeria’s status as the world’s poverty capital.
He concluded by urging citizens to support President Tinubu in his anti-corruption efforts and to uphold the constitutional provision outlined in Section 16(2)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which aims to prevent the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few individuals or groups.
