The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has raised concerns about the whereabouts of Governor Ademola Adeleke, demanding clarity on his location and health status.
The statement, issued by Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal on Monday, comes approximately one month after Governor Adeleke embarked on a working vacation outside the state, according to information provided by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
The APC argued that the people of Osun deserved to know the governor’s whereabouts and health condition, expressing worries about the lack of updates two weeks after his departure.
Lawal emphasized that the absence of information had led to speculation in various quarters, urging Adeleke’s media handlers to provide transparent and accurate details regarding the governor’s situation.
“Adeleke must rise up to his constitutional responsibilities of providing qualitative governance for the people,” Lawal asserted, expressing concern about the performance of the governor’s duties amid the absence.
Responding to the APC’s concerns, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Sunday Bisi, assured the public that Governor Adeleke would be returning to the country this week after a one-month vacation abroad.
Bisi, in a statement by the Osun PDP Director of Media and Publicity, Oladele Olabamiji, highlighted that the vacation was publicly announced and characterized as a working one.
The statement reiterated that Governor Adeleke utilized the vacation to relax, reenergize, and coordinate with partners for the development of Osun.
Bisi dismissed claims of the governor facing health challenges, stating that taking a vacation after a year of hard work is not a crime.
“While on vacation, the Governor was coordinating his team from abroad, launching the implementation of the Multi-billion Infra Plan project.
As soon as the Governor arrives this week, Osun should be prepared for more delivery of dividends of democracy and good governance,” Bisi concluded, dismissing Osun APC’s concerns as baseless.
