Contrary to rumors that the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, expressed doubts over the chances of the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore, in the August 9 gubernatorial election, Mr. Fayose has denied the statement, saying he knew nothing about it.
There were reports that Fayose was not in good terms with Omisore especially since he had visited all the South-West states on a ‘thank you’ tour after winning last month’s Ekiti governorship poll but boycotted Osun.
Speaking on a radio programme on Progress 100.5FM in Ado-Ekiti, Fayose reportedly said: “I can’t see Omisore winning the poll. I don’t think he can win but I wish him good luck”.
But according to a press statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, Fayose said that his major preoccupation for now was for Omisore and PDP to win the Osun election and he was doing everything possible to ensure it happens.
Adelusi alleged that the statement posted on the social media was the handiwork of the APC, which he said, “had been overwhelmed by fear of losing Osun few weeks after it was booted out of Ekiti State”.
“Not only will Aregbesola go back to stay with his master, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu after the August 9 election, but the PDP will take over the South West”, he added.
Adelusi urged the Osun PDP members to remain united and ignore any negative news particularly on the social media, saying it was done with the intention of polarizing the ranks of PDP leaders, adding that with all their propaganda in Ekiti, the June 21 election ended 16 – 0, in favour of Fayose.
